Patent Lawyer

A patent lawyer is a legal professional who is specially trained in patent law and other legislation related to intellectual property.

In Australia, we have patent attorneys rather than patent lawyers which is terminology more commonly used in the United States. As our patent attorneys are only trained in intellectual property law, they do practice as lawyers, who complete a broader law degree.

While their roles are similar, patent legislation is separated from other legal professions in Australia and overseen by its own regulatory body.

Services

A patent attorney can facilitate the preparation and submission of patent applications, track their process through to approval, address any concerns and defend the rights of the holder as needed.

Skilled in all areas of intellectual property law, they can also expertly assist with queries related to trademarks, copyright, design rights and plant breeders rights.
